The Nelson Bantam Reps will return home from Smithers this weekend with bronze medals around their necks.

The reps beat Revelstoke 4-3 in the consolation final of the BC Hockey Tier III Provincials on Thursday morning.

The Nelson team started the tournament in Northern B.C. with three straight wins over the host teams, Dawson Creek and Ridge Meadows.

Wednesday morning they lost 10-5 to Quesnel, putting them in second place in their pool after the consolation round.

In the Wednesday afternoon semi-final the locals took on a strong Terrace club.

Despite holding a 5-3 lead going into the third period, Nelson ran out of gas and allowed five unanswered Terrace goals in the final frame to fall 8-5.

Despite no chance of a provincial banner, the bantams came out strong in the Thursday morning contest against Revelstoke.

They scored just over a minute into the opening period to set the tone for a wild game that went back and forth.

Finally with just over six minutes left in the game Nelson scored a goal to go up 4-3 and held on for the win and the third place finish.
