Beginning at 8 a.m. on July 1, the Nelson Lions Club will once again take over the 500 block of Baker Street for our annual Canada Day Pancake Breakfast fundraiser. Enjoy pancakes, sausages, coffee, juice and more before you head to Lakeside Park for a day of exciting festivities.

For more than 50 years, Canada Day pancakes have been a beloved fundraiser here in Nelson. Each year, hundreds of breakfasts are sold to support community initiatives such as local student bursaries, the club’s Community Grants program, sight and hearing programs for seniors, support for local charities, and contributions to Lions International projects globally. We are one of over 49,000 worldwide clubs, each serving our communities in our own unique way.

The 500 block of Baker St. will be closed to traffic in the morning and transformed with our (new!) tables and chairs. We encourage you to bring your own plates, mugs and cutlery if possible to help us reduce waste. We ask for a minimum donation of $10 for adults, and $5 for kids, and we’re pleased to announce that we can now accept debit and credit cards!  Additional donations are welcome, with our thanks.

We are grateful to the Nelson Pilots Association for lending us their grills, Brad and the crew of Cantina Del Centro for use of their kitchen, David Havemann and Selkirk College’s Culinary students for their expertise, Safeway for food contributions, and of course the City of Nelson, the Nelson Star, the Nelson Chamber of Commerce and all the other volunteers and businesses that make this event possible.

Most of all we thank all our fellow Nelsonites and neighbouring communities for your ongoing support to all our fundraising projects and efforts.

If you are curious about becoming more involved in your community, why not consider being a guest at one of the club’s monthly evening meetings? They're held on the first Tuesday of each month, starting anew in September. For more information and contact details, visit the club’s website at nelsonlions.ca.

See you on Baker Street!
